I am looking for a postdoc to join our Databases and Artificial Intelligence group at TU Wien in beautiful Vienna, Austria.


The duration of the position is initially for one year, with the possibility for an extension of up to 2 years based on mutual agreement.


In general, the research will focus on using knowledge graphs and graph technologies to bring meaning to large amounts of heterogeneous data, enable novel perspectives of analysis, and make data and results accessible. The position is integrated in an interdisciplinary project involving health data.


We are seeking highly motivated candidates with an excellent doctorate in Computer Science, a strong background in data management, knowledge graphs, and a keen interest in research. We further expect excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written).


Expected start: March 2025

Profile

  1. Completion of an excellent doctorate in Computer Science (or closely related field)

  2. Strong background in graph data management and knowledge graphs

  3. In-depth knowledge and experiences in at least one subject area: data integration (data lakes, fabrics), provenance, data quality, applied machine learning, exploratory analytics

  4. An outstanding publication record in top Databases, Semantic Web, or data and knowledge engineering conferences and journals, e.g., VLDB, SIGMOD/PODS, EDBT/ICDT, TheWebConf, ICDE, ISWC, ESWC, VLDBJ

  5. Strong programming skills and experience with developing research prototypes

  6. Ability to develop methods, concepts, as well as their implementation and evaluation

  7. Willingness to contribute in interdisciplinary scientific projects

  8. Organizational and analytical skills as well as a structured way of working

  9. Ability to work in a team, problem-solving skills, and creative thinking

  10. Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.
