Group of scientists of St.-Petersburg State Technical University has
developed the NEW CONTINUES-VALUED LOGIC. It is very important
that the developed logic keeps the all properties (laws) of BOOLEAN
algebra. The developed theory and Zadeh fuzzy sets theory have the
common property - both theories are based on continues-valued logical
systems that allows to apply them when developing logical-mathematical
models under the CONDITIONS of UNCERTAINTY. Two of the main
features distinguishing the developed theory from Zadeh fuzzy sets
theory should be noted. The developed theory allows:
1) to take into account all parameters of the investigated object during
the solution process (in contrast to MAX, MIN realization of AND and
OR functions often applied in Zadeh theory when only MAX or MIN
values are taken into account);
2) essentially to simplify the logical-mathematical models (formulas) of
investigated objects using all laws of Boolean algebra (in contrast to
V(A\/B)=V(A)+V(B)-V(A)*V(B), V(A/\B)=V(A)*V(B) realization of AND and
OR functions applied in Zadeh theory to take into account all parameters,
but then it is impossible to use many laws of Boolean algebra to simplify
the formulas).
Our group carries out the researches on logical-mathematical modeling
on the basis of the developed theory. Logical-mathematical models have
been developed to solve the following problems:
- evaluation of degree of serviceability for complex technical systems;
- control, diagnosing, prediction of states of complex technical systems;
- pattern recognition;
- evaluation of quality of geographical maps;
- evaluation of quality of the goods and services;
- evaluation of quality of design of thermal power stations;
and others.
WE WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED to find out if somebody of BISC
members met the problem when it would be preferable to take into
account all parameters of the investigated object during the solution
process and AT THE SAME TIME to have opportunity to simplify the
logical-mathematical models (formulas) of investigated objects using all
laws of Boolean algebra.
Also we would be glad to know any opinion of people involved in fuzzy
logic (fuzzy technologies) and cooperate with organizations and
companies which can be interested in results of our activity.
