I am an orthopedic surgeon in New Orleans that is also interested
in fuzzy logic and medical decision making. I am prepared to
write a paper on a particular operative procedure. we are going
to start next week. I thought it would be fun to analyze the data
both with traditional statistical tools and with fuzzy logic. It
would be interesting to see if either method could be used with a
artificial intelligence system to pick the appropriate operation
for a particular patient. I agree that in general doctors, in all
persons, use their intuition or prejudices when they make
decisions. It would be interesting to see if we could arrive at a
system that make more correct decisions with logic. So far the
man can best the machine. But John Henry eventually lost to the
machine. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Please respond
via email or post here.
