On the advice of Professor Lotfi Zadeh, we are in the process of
forming a special interest group on "Application of Fuzzy Logic and
Soft Computing to Food Processing and Agricultural Engineering".
We have invited Professor Zadeh to be the Honorary Chair of the group,
and he has accepted. Initially, our objective is to establish a database
of the people who are working/interested in this general area. We will
function as an integral part of BISC. Eventually we will decide how we
could structure the group, to be more useful, efficient, effective,
relevant, etc., and what group activities we should concentrate on.
Exchanging research/technological ideas and developments, initiating
discussions on issues of special interest to the group, workshops, symposia,
and special issues of journals may be things we could do quite easily.

The purpose of this message is to learn about people who are interested
in joining this group. Please send me an e-mail message with a brief bio,
particular interests related to the theme of the group, and your other
coordinates (telephone and Fax numbers and postal address). Also, please
indicate whether you would like to assume a leadership role within the

I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you.
