Dear colleague,

attached to this mail you find the announcement and call for papers
for 2 satellite workshops to the 13th ICPR.

Both workshops are sponsored by IAPR (Int.Assoc.f.Pattern Recognition)
and organized by IAPR Technical Committees:
TC7 - Applications in Remote Sensing
TC8 - Applications in Industry

Please help in the announcement and forward this information to
colleagues who might be interested in these topics.

The announcement is also on WWW:

Workshop
Machine Perception Applications

September 2 - 4, 1996
Technical University Graz, Austria
Lecture Hall i7, Inffeldgasse 25

Current industrial applications of machine perception reach far beyond
standard tasks like industrial inspection and quality control. This
workshop will focus on the use of new methods in a variety of computer
vision and pattern recognition applications for robotics and automation.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, integration of sensors
and methods, active inspection systems, learning and adaptation of
polymorphic models, and autonomous interaction with a possibly unknown or
changing env ironment. We especially invite application-driven
contributions dealing with aspects of mid- and high-level computer vision
and issue a

Specialist Workshop
Methods for Extracting and Mapping Buildings, Roads
and other Man-Made Structures from Images

September 2 - 3, 1996
Technical University Graz, Austria
Lecture Hall i3, Inffeldgasse 25

Space imagery is becoming available at increasingly higher geometric
resolutions, approaching those traditionally reserved to aerial
photography. The creation of base maps, the detection of changes, the
merging of images from different sensors all benefit from an ability to
automatically recognize man-made objects from digital overhead images. Yet
this ability is far from being available in a routine manner. To focus
attention on this issue we invite you to contribute to, and attend, a
specialist workshop. To this end we issue a
