Looking for good AI books.

I am currently undertaking a research project on AI and the state of the
field of machine learning.

I have 15 sources from our university library, but 14 of them where
published in 1986 or 1987. I am looking for current, well-written books on
AI in general or on Machine Learning.

I am only a 2nd year computer science student, so the books should not be
extremely technical in nature (as far as AI goes 8>) ). Thanks in
advance.

Sincerely,
Ryan T. Rhea
