The 9th IEEE International Conference on

Fuzzy Systems

Hilton Palacio del Rio

San Antonio, Texas

May 7-10, 2000

Soft Computing in the Information Age

Deadline for papers submission: September 30, 1999

The 9th IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems will be held in
Hilton Palacio del Rio by the beautiful San Antonio Riverwalk. The
conference hotel is within walking distance of entertainment, fine dining,
arts and crafts shops (La Villita), and historical landmarks such as the
Alamo. Other attractions of the city include Sea World, Six Flags Fiesta
Texas, and Mexican speciality shopping in Market Square.

The conference is intended to provide a forum for reporting key advancements
in fuzzy logic technologies as well as for providing a vision of soft
computing in the new information age. Topics of interest include, but are
not limited to, the following:

* Foundations of Fuzzy Logic and Approximate Reasoning
* Analytical Issues of Fuzzy Logic Control
* Fuzzy Logic in Intelligent Control
* Fuzzy Pattern Recognition
* Fuzzy Logic in Data Mining
* Fuzzy Database Systems
* Fuzzy Logic in Intelligent Information Systems
* Fuzzy Logic in Decision Support Systems
* Fuzzy Model Identifications
* Neuro-fuzzy Systems
* Evolutionary Computing and Fuzzy Systems
* Fuzzy Hardware
* Industrial Applications of Fuzzy Logic
* Applications of Fuzzy Logic and Soft Computing to
o Signal Processing
o Image Understanding
o Robotics and Automation
o Learning and Knowledge Acquisition
o Multimedia
o Webbased Information Technologies
o Software Agents
o Distance Learning
o E-Commerce
o Intelligent Networks

Authors are invited to submit original papers about theories, technologies,
or applications of the topics above. Papers will be thoroughly reviewed
based on its technical contributions as well as its clarity. Accepted papers
will appear in the Proceedings of FUZZ-IEEE 2000. Authors are requested to
send 6 copies of full papers, written in English and not exceeding 8
single-sided pages, in A4 or 8'5" x 11" page format, with at least 1 inch
margins. The font size should be 10 pt. or larger. Each paper should include
an abstract (max. 200 words) and be accompanied by a separate cover
including a list of at most 5 keywords, the name, postal address, e-mail
address, and FAX number of a contact author. Fax or e-mail submissions are
not accepted. The paper should be received by the Conference Secretariat
before September 15, 1999. Tutorial proposals should be sent to the Tutorial
Chair, Larry Hall, before Aug 15, 1999.
