A new research project, Soft Computing Methods for Control and Diagnostics
with Applications in Electric Drives, funded by the Academy of Finland is
beginning at the Institute of Intelligent Power Electronics.

Our goal is to study and develop intelligent control algorithms and methods
for controlling flux, torque, acceleration, velocity and position of
electric motors. In parallel with these activities, we develop
self-diagnostics methods for entire motor drive systems. The latest soft
computing techniques (neural networks, fuzzy systems, genetic algorithms,
and immune networks) will be used to complement the presently available
control and diagnostics techniques.

We are looking for a highly motivated person to work as a Researcher. The
project begins in September 1999 and ends in December 2000.
