Hello,
As it was written in one of the messages, pay attention to the books by
George Klir. For example, the one which gives a really simple introduction
to fuzzy theory is "Fuzzy Set Theory" (G.Klir, U.H.Clair,
Bo Yuan), Prentice Hall, 1997.
The other book I can recommend is "Fuzzy Logic with Engineering
Applications" by Timothy J.Ross (McGraw-Hill, 1995). Among the last
published books You can find also "Fuzzy Logic: Intelligence, Control and
Information" by John Yen and Reza Langari (Prentice Hall, 1998) - it gives
history overview, theory and "math behind Fuzzy Logic".
As for cognitive maps, You can find the corresponding material in "Fuzzy
Engineering" by Bart Kosko (Prentice Hall, 1997).

Best regards,
Dr. Konstantin Degtiarev
