PT Needs FL

Dear Lotfi and BISCers,

FL develops the concepts of Linguistic Variable (LV) and Calculus
of Fuzzy Rules (CFR). LV as well as CFR are very strong concepts.

I have expressed to Lotfi, time ago, my belief that LV alone will
produce a significative intelligent evolution in the Human Science and
Culture (HSC). I am deeply convinced that, after several centuries of
human activity, and fuzzy granulation, there is cumulated an amazing
quantity of potential HSC knowledge still non transmitted . This mass of
knowledge is waiting just LV world visibility and acceptance to be
released, shared and exchanged by all the HSC fields !!!

We the human beings are capable to feel, think and perceive
fuzzy concepts. However, unfortunately we cannot transmit them with
an acceptable accuracy using only natural language. Although LV is
the right tool to be used, as human beings we are we are strongly tied
to the today still active Aristotelian linguistic paradigm "To be or not to
be".
LV acceptance means a linguistic paradigm change and so that is why
we are, in general, emotionally antagonistic toward it.

Once reached a suitable familiarity with LV the man will go ahead
with Fuzzy Linguistic Modelling (FLM). Perhaps this can be the next step
to be applied in the HSC. It is important to note that this should not be
seen as a linguistics-fiction-field since all the concepts were previously
perceived, thought or felt . So that we should accept this technique as a
way to express the fuzzy granulated concepts that are inside our minds
in a continuous semantic domain. I am really convinced that FLM will
introduce us in a new world of analysis and synthesis, very suitable to
discover amazing as well as real conclusions.

Going to the point, Probability Theory is just an important field
to apply the before mentioned concepts. We can accept that, in general,
the "probability of a given fact, condition or circumstance" can be framed
as the relationship between "favorable vs possible occurrencies".
What a beautiful realm to apply FL !

It is understandable that some applications could be enougly
well defined using the Aristotelian paradigm to a given occurrency (PT):
"To be favorable or not to be favorable"

Sometimes the definition of what is a favorable occurrency should
be a fuzzy issue in several applications. These situations could not be
managed by the traditional PT. So that in these applications the situation
is managed by the following Zadeh paradigm (PT++):
"In which degree an occurrency is favorable."

So that, I absolutely agree the acceptance and use of PT++ and
that PT is involved by PT++. Perhaps it is time to go ahead with the
development of PT++. I believe that important PT++ concepts as
Favorable Fuzzy Domain (FFD) as well as Possible Fuzzy Domain (PFD)
requires a suitable exploration, study and discussion.

But the point of this opinion exchange, is mainly addressed to the
acceptance of PT++. I agree with Lotfi that PT++ is an intriguing
possibility
that may be worthy of exploration.
