MULTIPLE ACADEMIC POSITIONS

Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science, founded in 1884,
is a fully accredited, independent career-oriented coeducational
institution with a total enrollment of 3,500. Our beautiful
100-acre campus is located in a park-like setting close to
Center City Philadelphia.

COMPUTER SCIENCE
Tenure Track - Assistant Professor
Level Beginning Fall 1999

Teach undergraduate courses, advise students, develop and
conduct sponsored research programs. Requires Ph.D. in computer
science, informatics, biomedical engineering, or related areas.
Environment includes state-of-the-art, NSF sponsored, Silicon
Graphics laboratory, DEC Alpha AXP workstations, access to Cray
C90 supercomputer, and clusters of multimedia personal
computers. Candidates should have background in virtual reality,
multimedia systems design, and intelligent systems areas, as
well as medical, bio, or chemical informatics. Should also have
strong communications skills, a solid commitment to teaching and
the ability to foster collaboration among the multi-disciplinary
research efforts of the School of Science and Health and the
departments of Computer Science and Mathematics.

BIOCHEMISTRY

Tenure Track - Assistant Professor of Chemistry Beginning Fall
1999

To bridge the gap between chemistry and the life sciences by
teaching courses such as biochemistry and bio-related chemistry
courses that complement a biomedical science curriculum.
Requires Ph.D. and excellent undergraduate teaching skills and
experience, including advanced biochemistry with a strong
interest in molecular chemistry, molecular modeling and computer
literacy, especially in cheminformatics.

APPLIED MATHEMATICS

Tenure Track - Assistant Professor of
Mathematics Beginning Fall 1999

Develop collaborative programs with our Physician Assistant,
Occupational Therapy, Midwifery and Biomedical/Biotechnology
curricula. Requires Ph.D. in big-statistics, bioinformatics or
related area along with excellent undergraduate teaching skills
and publishable research. Teaching experience in Probability and
Statistics, Linear Algebra, Statistical Decision Theory and/or
Mathematical Statistics desirable. Research experience with
industry, government laboratories, medical centers, or other
institutions outside academia also desirable.

PSYCHOLOGY

Tenure Track - Experimental/
Physiological Psychologist
Assistant Professor
Beginning Fall 1999

To use research interests and knowledge in biological bases of
behavior to teach several of the following courses: Introductory
Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology,
Experimental Psychology, Physiological Psychology, Learning
Theories, and Sensation and Perception. Course load in 8
courses/year in a new psychology program with a human
experimental laboratory, new small animal laboratory and
well-equipped computer facilities for teaching and research.
Preference given to candidates able to participate in a new
program in biopsychology and who are successful in obtaining
grants. Application review begins November 20, 1998 until
position fills.
