"Automated Reasoning Under Uncertainty at NASA"

Bio

Dr. Peter Norvig is Chief of the Computational Sciences
Division at NASA Ames Research Center.
Previously, Dr. Norvig was Chief Scientist at Junglee Corp., which he
helped bring from start-up to acquisition (by Amazon.com for $240M) in two
years. He has also been a senior scientist at
Harlequin Inc. and Sun Microsystems Labs. Before that, he was a professor
at the University of Southern California and a research faculty member at
Berkeley.

Dr. Norvig has written over thirty articles in artificial intelligence and
software engineering, and three books:

-Artificial Intelligence: A Modern Approach,

-Paradigms of Artificial Intelligence Programming: Case Studies in
Common Lisp, and

-Verbmobil: A Translation system for Face-To-Face Dialog

He received a BS in applied mathematics from Brown University,
and a Ph.D. in computer science from Berkeley.
