Workshop "Applications of Fuzzy Logic"

December 4, 1998 10.00 - 17.00 h, Vienna, Austria

ERUDIT is a network of excellence for fuzzy logic and uncertainty modelling
supported by the European Commission. It is structured according to sectors of
economy and primarily related to research and applications in industry, finance,
and medicine. The nodes of ERUDIT come from industry and universities all over
Europe.

INTRODUCTION TO THE WORKSHOP
Fuzzy logic and other intelligent methods have already found extensive use in all
sectors of the economy. Applications exist in data analysis, control and
supervision as well as in optimisation and simulation. Intelligent methods are
used as stand-alone applications or in complementing conventional methods.
For example, they are implemented in solving problems in financial engineering,
medicine, and healthcare as well as in telecommunication and process industries.

The objectives of this workshop will be:

- giving the state-of-the art view to applications in different areas
- showing successful case studies
- discussing methodological development
- discussing the potential applications in the future.

The workshop will consist of survey papers, case studies and a discussion.

The workshop is directed to:

- managers and technicians from industry
- consulting and software companies
- researchers.
