DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT OF SYNERGISTIC INTELLIGENT SYSTEMS AND THEIR
APPLICATIONS TO MANAGEMENT OF OPERATIONAL ORGANISATIONS

ABSTRACT

There has been enormous evolution in the field of Artificial
Intelligence (AI) paradigms with specific applications to improve
organisational management decision making. The applications of these AI
paradigms have been established as efficient equipage for solving
unstructured and imprecise problems of search and optimisation being
encountered by Operational Organisations. Today, Internet technology
facilitates the communication among people around the world, in the form
of data, text, video and audio which enables swift interaction.
The primary objective of the present research effort is on design,
development and applications of a user friendly, highly interactive
Intelligent Group Management System, the SIGDMSS, based on inexpensive
and efficient Internet communication support, for group discussions,
retrieval of content and expeditious decision analysis. The SIGDMSS
purvey proficient Group Decisions for the apropos management of
Operational Organisations. The SIGDMSS improves the overall quality of
decisions through efficient processing of complexity in numerous real
life decision scenarios. The SIGDMSS enhances the learning stride for
the group member's, the management executives, as it improves their
mental ability through group interaction with domain specific content
support.

The SIGDMSS has been designed with three basic Elements for Establishing
Communication Infrastructure [EECI] and five Principal Elements for
Information Processing [PEIP]. The EECI of SIGDMSS, allows the global
communication across multiple operating environments for the Group
Facilitator and Members. The first EECI, an Internet Enabled
Communication System [IECS} furnishes a Operating System Independent
platform for effective communication, essential for effective decision
process. The second element of EECI, a Group Facilitator's Design and
Analysis Desk [GFDAnD], enables the Group Facilitator with necessary
functions to handle various tasks for effective group management. The
third EECI, a Members Idea Generation and Brainstorming Desk [MIGBrD]
is designed for facilitating the members need of retrieval of content
support and decision analysis process.

The five PEIPs designed for the SIGDMSS includes :
* Fuzzy Outranking and Multi-Criteria Decision Making System [FOMCDMS]
for Selection of Optimal Alternative based on multiple criteria (SOA)
* Fuzzy Metagame Conflict Analysis and Forecasting System [FMCAnFoS] for
Negotiation of Conflicting Objectives among groups or functions (NCO)
* Fuzzy Dynamic Analysis System [FDAnS] for Analysis of System's Dynamic
Behavior (ASDB)
* Fuzzy Genetic Optimization & Sensitivity Analysis System [FGOSAnS] for
Optimization and Sensitivity Analysis (OSA)
* Fuzzy Cognitive Map Adaptive Inferencing System [FCMAdIS] for
Sequencing of Series of Independent Decisions (SSID)

The thesis also describes seven application systems and models designed
and developed for specific problem domains of Operational Organisations
for finding solutions to the real world problems.
1. Fuzzy Metagame Conflict Decision (FMCD) Model for Carpet Industry.
2. Fuzzy Metagame Decision Resolution (FMDR) System for Computer
Industry.
3. Collaborative Dynamic System Analysis (CDSA) Model for International
Carpet Market.
4. Collaborative Fuzzy Genetic (CFG) System for Carpet Industry.
5. Fuzzy Genetic Group Management (FGGM) System for Internet Server.
6. Fuzzy Group Cognitive Inference (FGCI) System for Carpet Industry.
7. Fuzzy Group Cognitive Decision (FGCD) Model for Computer Industry.

The SIGDMSS furnish the features of flexibility and dependence of group
management for intelligent and accurate decision resolutions, in
decision scenarios of uncertainty and imprecision, on the basis of
effective deliberations among the group members. The user specific
multimedia report output in the form of charts, diagrams, pictures and
video displays etc. makes the SIGDMSS a indispensable model for the
Operational Organizations.

Thus, the present research is an earnest effort for the design and
development of an Internet Enabled Synergistic Intelligent Group
Management System, the SIGDMSS, which is formulated on inexpensive and
efficient communication support for discussions, retrieval of content
and expeditious decision analysis through various PEIPs.
