How could you possibly be working on a general theory that includes all kinds
of data types and yet need references to the most common and fundamental
methods of measuring distances in decision space?

This does not compute.

And if you don't know where to get books on statistics, computing, or how to
use the 'Net to find these topics (AltaVista, as an example), I would abandon
any attempts at developing a "general theory" until you've brought yourself up
to speed on history, tools, and approaches.

Just a thought.
