Dickerson, Kosko: "Function Approx. /w ellips. rules"; AVQ, scaling matrix ?

Hello altogether,

having read the article of J. Dickerson and B. Kosko, "Fuzzy Function
Approximation with Ellipsoidal Rules" (IEEE transactions on Systems,
Man and Cybernetics, vol.26, #4, 8/1996), I have to admit that it is
not clear to me how the scaling matrix Omega for the unsupervised
learning algorithm AVQ is being computed.
Although I get the idea that's behind this scaling matrix, and it's
use, I am not able to compute the matrix values that are printed in
the article, with the give information.

I would appreciate it, if anybody could help me with an answer or a
suggestion to this (little, but important) problem.
