Many thanks, found it. I knew I had seen it in some textbook but Cox-2
escaped my attention. Oddly enough, it's not mentioned in Wang's book --
L-X. Wang, 1994, Adaptive Fuzzy Systems and Control, PTR Prentice Hall,
at least I cannot find any mention there.

BTW, are you aware of any opinions, documented or otherwise, on the
training rule, i.e. adoption of only the maximum degree rule for each
training data pair?
