Dear all,

I would like to draw your attention towards a

SPECIAL SESSION ON FUZZY PETRI NETS

which will take place during IPMU'98.

IPMU'98 is the 7th International Conference on Information
Processing and Management of Uncertainty in Knowledge-Based Systems
(IPMU) and will take place in Paris, 5 - 10 July 98 (further information
on IPMU: http://www-apa.lip6.fr/~baslofti/ipmu.html)

In the last decade, a lot of individual research has been done on the
combination of fuzzy sets and petri nets, and several notions of "Fuzzy
Petri Nets" have emerged. But there is still a lack of discussion and
scientific exchange about the various concepts. Now that the matter has
reached maturity (e.g. so far that books are or will soon be published
on FPN), it seems to be fruitful to discuss FPN issues in a broader
circle to clarify the differences and to strengthen the points they have
in common. Furthermore, a presentation of successful FPN applications
could show the variety of possible application areas and enhance the
transfer from pure research examples to profitable implementations.

The special session will take place on Friday, July 10.
session : Fuzzy Petri Nets (organized and chaired by A. Fay)

"Fuzzy Models on Base of Fuzzy Petri Nets for Discrete
Manufacturing Processes" H.P. Lipp, S. Bachmann

Piece and Small-Lot Series Using Fuzzy Coloured Petri Nets"

If you are unable to join the conference but are interested in sharing
ideas about Fuzzy Petri Nets, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,

Alexander Fay
