Second BISC-SIG-ES and BISC-SIG-RT
International Workshop,
First SET'98 and Second SC&ES'98
October 23-28, 1998
Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA
JCIS'98
The Fourth Joint Conference on Information Sciences
http://www.ee.duke.edu/~gu/JCIS98/

All interested persons are invited to submit paper/poster presentations
that address recent advances in the area of NEURO-FUZZY-GENETIC
MODEL-BASED IDENTIFICATION AND CONTROL.(Visit our homepage at:
http://bisc.lbl.gov/ for more information).Papers that present new
theoretical results, innovative strategies, new applications and new
problem areas are strongly encouraged. Authors are required to clearly
state the contribution of their work to the advancement of the current
state-of-art in the field. The aim of this session is to present the
research and practical application of soft computing techniques in the
field of the Control.

"Despite our incomplete knowledge, Neuro-Fuzzy-GA models are able to
predict the complex behavior of the nonlinear and nonstationary
processes. Furthermore, the Neuro-fuzzy-GA techniques can be used to
design the model-based controllers capable of providing an effective
process control." Neuro-Fuzzy and Neuro-Geometric Control Strategy (M.
Nikravesh, 1997)

"The successful applications of soft computing and the rapid growth of
BISC suggest that the impact of soft computing will be felt increasingly
in coming years. Soft computing is likely to play an especially
important role in science and engineering, but eventually its influence
may extend much farther. " A glimpse into the future (Note from
Professor Zadeh)
