In the book

-------------------------------
you will find a representation of IF THEN
(in the form of a transposed truth table with possibilities (truth values)
and probabilities)
which models precisely the meaning of IF THEN in natural language.
Existence sentences can also be given the above representation
by reformulating them as IF THEN sentences.

For example,

"All vertebrates are animals" can be reformulated as
"IF x is an instance of a vertebrate THEN x is an instance of an animal",
or
"P(x is an instance of an animal | x is an instance of a vertebrate) = 1".

"Some vertebrates are animals" can be reformulated as
"IF x is an instance of an animal THEN x may be an instance of a vertebrate",
or
"P(x is an instance of a vertebrate | x is an instance of an animal) = m",
where m is a true fraction, 0<m<1.

Greetings,
Ellen
