4. SYMPOSIUM SOFT COMPUTING GOETTINGEN

"Soft Computing in Production and Material Management"

Neural Nets, Fuzzy Set Theory, Evolutionary Algorithms

University of Goettingen, Germany, Thu. 12. March 1998
(10 am - 6 pm) Central Lecturing Building, Level 1

THEME:
The theme of this years symposium are Soft Computing applications in
production and material management. Soft Computing as a technical term
includes the complementary core areas of artificial neural networks,
fuzzy set theory, and evolutionary algorithms. While Soft Computing is
actively being applied in the technical sectors, we believe that the
great potential of Soft Computing for the management domain has not
yet been sufficiently appreciated in industry. The Goettingen
symposium was established to serve as a link between science and
practice, focussing on innovative applications and know-how transfer.

PROGRAMME:

Invited Talks:
Prof. Dr. Th. Baeck, Leiden University
"Einfuehrung in Evolutionaere Algorithmen und ihre Anwendung bei
der Beladeoptimierung von Druckwasserreaktoren"

Prof. Dr. J. Kok, Leiden University
"Introduction to Artificial Neural Networks and Practical
Application Examples in Business"

Prof. Dr. K. Sere, Abo Akademi University, Turku
"Analyzing Business Performance with Self-Organizing Maps"

The symposium has separate sessions on management applications
and technical applications of Soft Computing.

The main conference language is GERMAN (no translation available).
Some presentations are given in English.
