Special Session on Soft Computing Methods for Advanced Control

S M C ' 9 8

The next IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Conference (SMC'98) is
scheduled for San Diego, California, on October 11-14, 1998. SMC is the
main conference of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society. This
year's conference theme, Intelligent Systems for Man in a Cyberworld,
has
been selected to emphasize the growing importance of computational
methods
and modeling tools in the design, analysis and control of
information/intelligent systems.

Soft Computing techniques are emerging globally into various control
applications. Innovative control, system identification, and estimation
methods are frequently proposed for new applications. Therefore, we are
planning to organize a special session on Soft Computing Methods for
Advanced Control.

The possible detailed topics of the session include:

* Adaptive and learning systems
* Reinforcement learning control
* Neural network-based control
* Fuzzy logic control
* Nonlinear systems and control
* Novel applications
* Other (specify)

Submission:
All papers will be reviewed for technical merit and content on the basis
of
an abstract of no more than 300 words. All abstracts must have a cover
page
containing the title of the paper along with the names, affiliations,
and
complete mailing (including electronic mailing) addresses of all
authors,
as well as a rank-ordered list of the three designated topic areas most
closely related to the paper. The cover sheet should list the four-digit
number along with the name of each of the three designated topic areas.
See
the official SMC'98 Call-for-Papers at
http://www.engr.rutgers.edu/~smc98
for appropriate topic area numbers and other details.

Mail your submission to the address of the Session Organizer until
February
8, 1998 (firm). We regret that e-mail abstracts of paper submissions are
not accepted.

All the submissions that cannot be accepted for this special session
will
automatically be redirected for other sessions.
