RESEARCH PROGRAMMER POSITION

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Beckman Institute, Artificial Intelligence Division
Knowledge Based Systems Group

The Artificial Intelligence Division of the Human-Computer
Intelligent Interaction (HCII) Group at the Beckman Institute is seeking
two full-time (2) research programmers to assist in design and
implementation of a research tool for real-time decision making under
uncertainty. The system will be based on architectures and algorithms for
intelligent uncertain reasoning, particularly Bayesian (belief) networks.

Key Duties

- Implement Bayesian network inference engines and interface
- Write specification and design documents; document code
- Define interfaces between inference engine and other modules
(user interface and database)
- Work with other group members to develop real-time
decision making system

Qualifications / Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline
- Experience with programming in either of:
* Common Lisp (or Scheme)
* C++ (especially MS Visual C++)
- Experience in artificial intelligence is preferred, in particular:
* Probabilistic inference, especially using
Bayesian (belief) networks or neural networks
* Machine learning, especially using genetic algorithms
- Experience with databases is a plus

This is a 12-month, full-time academic professional position at
Beckman Institute. Salary is commensurate with experience. Starting date
is as soon as possible. For full consideration, applications must be
