Q: Load Forecasting

Dear News Users,

I am looking for help in getting information to following problem.
I want to concentrate my PhD studies on the use of intelligent load
forecasting methods for power systems. Intelligent methods are, in our
opinion, fuzzy logic, neural networks, expert systems and combinations
of these techniques.

A lot of papers have been presented to the problem of load forecasting,
but up to now not many of these proposed methods are installed in power
systems and used by the operators. Although these papers mention the
improvement of forecasting results by using these intelligent methods,
the industry uses still regression based methods.

Is there really still a gap of information between
research institutes and industry ?

Has anyone of you experiences with load forecasting in
power systems and has any ideas where there is a problem
in using these methods ?

Does anyone know installed and working forecasting systems
based on these intelligent techniques mentioned above ?

Does anyone know companies, research institutes, research
scientists who are working especially in the field of electrical
load forecasting or similar fields.

Thank you in advance for you help.

Kindly Regards
