IPMU'98 UPDATE

**************

LA SORBONNE

We are pleased to announce that the 1998 IPMU conference scheduled for
Paris, July 6-10, will take place at LA SORBONNE. La Sorbonne the oldest
University in Paris founded in 1257 has a long and prestigous history as an
intellectual and academic center in Europe. We believe this location will
provide a very stimulating setting for all the participants as well as
affording a background that helps place the issues related to uncertainty
in an appropriate historical perspective.

IPMU'98

The Seventh Conference on
Information Processing and Management of
Uncertainty in Knowledge-Based Systems

July 6 - 10, 1998
Paris, France

---------------------------------------------

The IPMU Conference is organized every two years with the aim of
bringing together scientists working on various methods for the management
of uncertainty in intelligent systems. This conference provides a medium
for the exchange of ideas between theoreticians and practitioners using
different methods to address the important issue of uncertainty.
This year, the conference is being held in Paris, a city that
provides many attractions for the visitor, as well as being a city with a
rich history in scientific and academic matters. For more information about
Paris, contact the Paris homepage.

Track on various utilizations of trees
--------------------------------------
In honor of Claude François PICARD who, based on the use of weighted trees,
initiated questionnaire theory in the early sixties, we are organizing a
special track on the applications of tree structures in information
processing and management of uncertainty in knowledge-based systems.
All types of papers on this topic will be appreciated, from theory to
practice, from coding theory to decision-making, processing of natural
language or arborescent causal networks.
Please submit your papers with the indication "track on trees".
