Soft computing (encompassing areas of fuzzy logic, evolutionary
computation, and neural networks) has emerged as an effective tool
for dealing with control, modeling, and decision problems in complex
systems. Furthermore, there are natural synergies between the
component technologies. This conference, which is an outgrowth of the
previous conferences in the series on applications of soft computing
with the aim or providing a forum for interaction between the soft
computing community and other sectors of the
scientific-industrial-business world where the soft computing
approach can be applied to advantage. Emphasis will be placed on
applications involving fuzzy logic and evolutionary computation,
although neural network applications (particularly hybrids with
other soft computing technologies) will be considered.

We invite original papers that present real-world applications of
soft computing and/or compare the solutions with rival approaches.
We also welcome papers that discuss problems where the soft
computing methodologies are potentially effective, and papers on
theoretical developments which enhance the practical usefulness
of the soft computing approach.

POSSIBLE TOPICS:

* applications of soft computing to control problems,
sensor fusion, manufacturing, testing and diagnostics,
semiconductor processing, modeling of complex systems,
approximate reasoning, optimization, management science,
decision analysis, information systems, business
applications, forecasting, reliability, cost-benefit
analysis, risk assessments, medical applications, forensic
applications, automative applications, robotics, automation, etc..

* hardware implementations of soft computing

* new developments in soft computing: development of applications
or approaches combining fuzzy logic, neural networks,
evolutionary computation, expert systems, etc..

* soft computing software.
