If you want a want to develop piecewise linear functions that can be
used to make predictions, then instead of looking at things that call
themselves "fuzzy", you could look at adaptive logic nets. They can be
used in some cases, particularly if the system you are trying to model
behaves according to some dependable qualitative rules that you can
use to improve training results.

You can try ALNs out by getting some Windows software from
ftp.cs.ualberta.ca in pub/atree/atree3/atree3ek.exe
and in atree3ek.brief.guide.

I hope this is something along the lines you are looking for.

Best wishes,

Bill
