Adaptive Logic AL220/NLX220

Hi,
Adaptive Logic recently announced a new version of the NLX220
called the AL220. The chip looks very well matched
(function *and* price) for a product I'm developing. Has anyout
there used either chip? Any gotchas I should know about? Also,
is there a cheaper alternative to their $600 development
system?
