Dear Colleague:
On behalf of ISATA-29 Co-ordinating committee, I would like to invite =
you to participate in ISATA-29 Dedicated Conference on Fuzzy =
Systems/Soft Computing which will take place as one of the parallel =
conferences during 29th International Symposium on Automotive Technology =
and Automation, held in Florence, Italy, June 2-6, 1996.=20
The conference on Fuzzy Systems, Soft Computing is devoted to the =
applications of Fuzzy Logic (FL), Neural Networks (NN), Genetic =
Algorithms (GA) to the transportation /automotive problems. Expected =
papers should be on FL, NN, GA techniques and principles that enable =
ever more ambitious automotive /transportation applications along the =
following tracks:
Product Engineering: contributions stemming from the area of =
applications to product and product design;
Manufacturing Engineering: contributions focusing on the manufacturing =
process improved control, robustness, flexibility;
Product and Manufacturing Integration. Contributions stemming from =
various decision making systems;
Enabling Technology: Contributions focusing on techniques and principles =
that facilitate systems development to handle increasing systems =
complexity (reasoning, learning, optimal control methods, automated =
highway systems, robotics, etc).
=20
I sincerely hope that you will be able to accept this invitation. I am =
also hopeful that you will agree to organize session and/or present a =
paper in this Conference.=20
Following is the listing of the announcement which you may had received =
in the mail already.=20
DEDICATED CONFERENCE ON FUZZY SYSTEMS/ SOFT COMPUTING IN THE
AUTOMOTIVE AND TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRIES
Honorary Programme Committee Chair: Prof. Lotfi Zadeh, University of =
California at Berkeley, USA
Programme Committee Chair: Irena Nagisetty, Advanced Manufacturing and =
Process Leadership, Ford Motor Company, USA
Panel session: "Fuzzy Logic/ Neural networks - a competitiveness tool =
for Market response, Robust Product and Robust Manufacturing, Quality, =
Reduced costs".=20
Summary of Topics.
The role of Fuzzy Systems in Automotive & Transportation Industry is =
rapidly increasing. Indeed, fuzzy engineering has long recognized and =
exploited the inherent linguistic and qualitative aspect of the basic =
concept of fuzzy set. The prevailing theme of this dedicated conference =
on fuzzy systems is integration of quantitative and qualitative =
knowledge representation and means of approximate reasoning covering all =
areas of transportation/automotive areas:
1) Product engineering:
Body/Chassis Systems Analysis
Transmission modeling
Engine modeling
Knowledge-based design systems
Design optimization
Safety simulation
Powertrain analysis
Noise/vibration/tools analysis
Electrical/Electronics
2) Manufacturing & Quality Control:
Capacity and Material Flow Modeling
Tool/Fixture/Workcell Layout
Manufacturing Technology Management
Manufacturing process modeling and control: assembly, stamping, =
body structures, paint, machining, electronics, plastics, =
ergonomics
3) Product and Manufacturing integration =09
OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES IN TRANSPORTATION/AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY
System identification and prediction of the systems behavior
Automatic start-up and Shut-down Control
Control methods: for product, process, robots
Fuzzy Optimal Control: towards new generation of the fuzzy control
Neuro/Fuzzy chips for cars, robots, manufacturing assemblies
Machine/process diagnostics and expert systems
Automated highway systems and associated advanced vehicle control =
systems
