The General Electric Company has had a great deal of success

the area where the bulk of that success has come: Adaptive
Methods. Work here has contributed to GE's efforts in
Financial Services, Manufacturing, and even Broadcast
Television. The talk will illustrate that work, attempt to
identify the roots of that success, and pick out areas for
future research.

GE is also growing its efforts in this and other areas in
Information Technology. This includes areas such as
Electronic Commerce, Product Quality & Reliability,
Computational Finance, and Embedded Intelligence. The talk
will also briefly describe the GE research environment.
