Second Announcement
International Workshop on
Soft Computing
in
Remote Sensing Data Analysis
Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche
Area della Ricerca di Milano,
Via Amphre 56, Milano, Italy
December 4-5, 1995
organized by
CNR-ITIM - Environmental Decision Support System Group
CNR-IRRS - Remote Sensing Department
sponsored by
Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche
Commission of the European Communities
Milano Ricerche
**************************************************************************
************************
Purpose of the Workshop:
************************
The rapid development of space and computer technologies has made
it possible to store a large amount of geographic and environmental
data, collected from heterogeneous sources. This creates the
conditions for developing projects in multisource remote sensing
data analysis and environmental decision support systems.
With the increasing complexity of these applications there has been
a clear understanding of the capability and limitation of conventional methods of analysis.
Current researches in soft computing focus on complementary approaches
to classical quantitative pattern recognition, such as knowledge based systems,
neural networks, fuzzy set theory, probabilistic and evidential approaches, genetic algorithms, etc.
The objective of the Workshop is to explore the potentiality of these
new methods when applied in Remote Sensing data analysis.
*****************
Suggested Topics:
*****************
Artificial Neural Networks Image Processing and Classification
Fuzzy Pattern Recognition Multisource/Multitemporal data analysis
Dempster-Shafer theory Contextual Classification
Self-Organising Systems Environmental Decision Support Systems
Expert Systems Land-use Planning and Cartography
Genetic Algorithms Geographic Information Processing
Machine Learning Renewable and Non-Renewable Resources
Hybrid architectures Disaster Prevention and Assessment
