The diverse newsgroups to which this announcement is posted
is due to the broad range of topics in this symposium. They
range from the very theoretical to VLSI design and engineering.

ADVANCE PROGRAM, INFORMATION, and REGISTRATION FORM for the

IEEE 25th International Symposium on Multiple-Valued Logic
----------------------------------------------------------
Sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society, the IEEE Technical
Committee on Multiple-Valued Logic, and Indiana University

and

1995 Workshop on Post-Binary Ultra-Large Scale Integration
----------------------------------------------------------

May 22-25, 1995
Indiana University
Bloomington, Indiana 47405
USA

INTRODUCTION
==============================================================================

1995 marks a quarter century of progress in multiple-valued logic. The field
has been a fertile one, providing a forum for early research in fuzzy logic,
multiple-valued quantum devices, biological computing, and theory of multiple-
valued algebra, logic, and design methodology. ISMVL is unique because it
brings theoreticians, circuit designers, and applications-oriented researchers
together in a common forum where advances in each area are shared.

This year's symposium includes invited lectures on gaggle theory, quantum
multiple-valued circuits, and multiple-valued function design. The program
committee selected 43 papers in areas such as classical and quantum circuit
design, fuzzy logic, algebra and logic, logic design and synthesis, and
applications of multiple-valued logic such as genetic algorithms and neural
systems. Parallel tracks for theory and implementation areas assure a tight
focus on research topics without wasted time for symposium attendees.

Early arrivals for ISMVL'95 are invited to attend the 1995 Workshop on Post-
Binary Ultra-Large Scale Integration. There is no charge for the workshop,
but participants are asked to indicate their attendance on the registration
form.

Indiana University will host the symposium on its Bloomington campus, known
for its beauty during the springtime. Participants will see a profusion of
flowering trees and shrubs on the gently rolling campus as they relax between
technical sessions with walks through wooded parts of the campus. Indiana
University has an internationally-recognized school of music, with many free
recitals and performances offered by music school faculty and students during
the symposium. Bloomington has a wide variety of ethnic restaurants,
including Japanese, Thai, Tibetan, Chinese, Mexican/Spanish, as well as a
variety of seafood, barbecue, and family restaurants. When you arrive your
registration package will include maps to local restaurants, a schedule of
special events, and a list of things to see and do in the area.

TRAVEL INFORMATION
------------------

Indiana University is located 45 miles south of Indianapolis. Indianapolis is
served by Indianapolis International Airport, with flights from all major
airlines in the US. Flights to Indianapolis from major hubs in Atlanta,
Chicago, Cinncinati, Detroit, New York, and St. Louis provide connections for
international attendees arriving from outside the US. Please make your
reservations early, as visitors from around the US arrive early for the Indy
500 Auto Race time trials. Major traffic due to the race itself occurs after
ISMVL'95, and is not expected to interfere with departures.

Bloomington is served by numerous shuttle bus and limousine services at
varying rates. Call for current rates, and to make your reservations for
ground transportation. A round trip is usually less expensive, and can be
rescheduled with 24 hours advance notice if necessary. All shuttles and
limousines leave from the Ground Transportation Center at Indianapolis
International Airport. The Ground Transportation Center is located near the
entrance to the ground floor access road, on the level of baggage claim.
Follow the signs to the Center, which has a comfortable waiting room and rest
rooms.

Bloomington Shuttle: 812-332-6004
Classic Touch Limousine: 812-339-7269
Hoosier Alternative Limousine: 317-241-2311
Personal Touch Limousine: 812-332-5466

Automobile rental is available at the Indianapolis International Airport from
a number of rental agencies. Call for current rates and to make your
reservations. International visitors can make rental car reservations through
their local representatives of these firms.

Alamo Rent-A-Car: 800-327-9633
AVIS: 800-831-2847
Budget: 800-527-0700
National: 800-227-7368

Some visitors may choose to rent a car and drive from Chicago or Detroit.
Driving time is approximately 5 hours to Bloomington on interstate divided
highways. From Indianapolis, take I-465 (a 'ring road' that circles
Indianapolis) to Indiana State Highway 37 South. 37 goes directly to
Bloomington. Exit on the old 37 (first Bloomington exit) and follow it to
Walnut Street (where the Hampton Inn is located, 2100 N. Walnut St.) or into
Bloomington where turning left onto East 7th Street will bring you to the IU
campus and the Indiana Memorial Union.

Finally, Bloomington is currently served by an airline shuttle from Chicago
O'Hare International Airport. Service is provided by Great Lakes Airlines,
Ltd. using Beechcraft 1900 airliners. Call 800-554-5111 for current pricing
and schedules. Outside the US send a FAX with flight arrival and departure
data into/out of Chicago O'Hare to 612-767-7001, ATTN: Vicki. Your shuttle
flight information and ticket pricing will be faxed back in return.
Bloomington's airport is a small regional airport, so you should also make
arrangements from one of the limousine services to be picked up on arrival and
taken to your hotel. Car rental is not available at the Bloomington airport.
