We are in the initial stages of forming a consortium to submit a
proposal to the IT section of the EC framework four programme. The area of
interest is the development of hardware implementations of fuzzy
neural network architectures. The device would initially be a single chip
integrated circuit, subsequently it could be made available as an optional
cell for use in dedicated embedded systems. The potential of the technology
would be shown via the design and development of a demonstrator unit (via a
PCB based unit) to be used in intelligent sensing and control applications.
On-chip interfaces to the major microprocessor/microcontroller families would
also be provided.

We have the nucleus of a consortium involving a university and a large,
internationally recognised microelectronics research centre in two member
states. We are currently seeking to consolidate the consortium with one or
more end users, a systems manufacturer and an IC manufacturer in appropriate
EC countries. Further information on this project can be made available on
request and we would welcome discussion and queries from interested parties.
