    General description of the session
    ==================================
    The IPMU conference is a biennual scientific conference about theory
    and applications of the processing and the management of uncertainty
    in knowledge-based systems. Besides theoretical methods and tools, the
    conference also focusses on several application fields.

    The aim of this session is to make a collection of papers presenting
    applications in the field of medical image and signal processing. The
    session topics include, but are not limited to:

    - Image reconstruction methods for X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MR, PET,
      and SPECT imaging.
    - Multimodality imaging (e.g., image co-registration).
    - Compression of medical data (both images and signals), exploiting
      redundancy based on statistical modeling.
    - Clinical decision-support and expert systems.
    - Automated information retrieval.
    - Bioinformatics.

    Call for Papers
    ===============
    You are kindly invited to submit a paper for the session "Biomedical
    Applications". Papers should be written in English and have a length
    between 4 and 8 single-sided pages on A4 or letter-sized paper, in
    two-column format with an overal width of 16cm (0.8cm of space between
    both columns). The normal text font of the paper should be in Times

    The first page of each paper must include the following information:
    title of the paper, names and affiliations of the authors, abstract of
    the paper, maximum 5 keywords, name, postal address, phone and fax
    numbers and e-mail address of the corresponding author.

    More detailed author instructions can be found in
       http://ava.univ-savoie.fr/ipmu2002/ipmu2002.ps

    A properly formatted paper can be generated using the following
    templates:
    a) for LaTeX

    Papers should be sent to by e-mail to ipmu_submission@elis.rug.ac.be

    Papers will be selected after peer review by at least two referees for
    presentation at the session.
