                             *** CALL FOR PAPERS ***

                                Special Session on

                       Learning and Adaptive Fuzzy Systems

                                        at
             International Conference in Fuzzy Logic and Technology
                                  EUSFLAT 2001

                               5-7 September 2001
                                 Leicester, UK

    * SPECIAL SESSION
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    One of the superior capabilities of fuzzy systems is that they can use the
    information expressed in a linguistic pattern. Though most fuzzy systems,
    have been formed to emulate human decision making behaviour, the linguistic
    information stated by an expert may not be precise or that it is difficult
    for the expert to articulate the accumulated knowledge to encompass all
    circumstances. Hence, it is essential to provide a learning capability for
    fuzzy systems, namely, to generate or modify the expert rules based on
    experiences. The topics of this special session are:

         Learning fuzzy Systems
         Adaptive fuzzy systems
         Supervised and unsupervised learning techniques
         Application of learning fuzzy systems
         Neural networks and fuzzy systems
         Learning and optimisation
         learning interpretation of fuzzy systems

    * IMPORTANT DATES
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    15 April 2001 Deadline for submission of abstracts
    1 May 2001 Notification of acceptance
    1 July 2001 Deadline for final four page extended abstracts.
    5 September 2001 Conference sessions

    * SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
    Authors are invited to send an extended abstract with minimum 2 and maximum
    4 pages by April 15, 2001. Extended abstracts should be prepared on A4 two
    column format, in Times or similar style, 10 points. Extended abstracts must
    be single sided and they should include title, author's name(s),
    affiliation(s) and keywords on top of the first page. E-mail submissions are
    encouraged. Please indicate the corresponding authors with their e-mail
    addresses.

    If accepted, the authors have to prepare the final camera-ready manuscript
    in time for inclusion in the proceedings and personally present the paper at
    the conference.

    Please send papers to the workshop organisers; postal and email addresses
    can be found at the bottom of this page.
