I am currently in Year 11 doing IB(International Baccalaureate). One of
the requirements of the course is to do a university style essay of less
than 4000 words on the topic of your choice. The topic I have chosen is
roughly "Comparison of Fuzzy Logic in the decision making process in
non-linear systems." (only rough wording). I want to include a couple of
case studies to highlight different aspects of Fuzzy logic and have
decided on these:

1. Steam machine (first application of Fuzzy Logic, simple design, easy
to describe)
2. Cement mill in germany (?) (First real world application)
3. Subway system in Japan (large scale system)
4. Weather prediction (decision making in chaotic enviroment)
5. Inverted pendulum (simple yet chaotic system)
Any other examples which would highligh the point would also be
appreciated.

I was wondering if there are any good books/internet resources which
would be a good introduction into fuzzy logic and particuarly the
previous examples.
Also I would like to know whether it would be too ambitious to attempt
to set up my own experiments with fuzzy logic vs conventional logic th
highlight points. I have a little programming experience but nothing
deep and not really specialising in one language. From what I can
gather, fuzzy programming is just a series of <If .. Then> rules which
should be fairly easy to set up. I would like to duplicate the inverted
pendulum experiment but do not know the cost of the robotics gear.
If anybody can point me to some research resorces or give me some advice
I would appreciate it.

BTW: Sorry if this seems incoherent, I am writing this at 2:30 am
