My research results on Takagi-Sugeno type Fuzzy Logic Controllers are
available on-line now.It targets at totally automatic optimization of TS
type FLC
rule output function parameters ( without any help from expert, or from
any other control
theory ).

The main approach can be summarized below:

1. build a computational model for the control plant.
2. partition fuzzy variables into different partitions ( membership
functions );
3. build a rule base with only rule antedent. ( rule output funciton
   parameters are random values );
4. run Incremental Best Estimate Directed Search (IBEDS) algorithm,
   you will get a highly optimized TS type FLC.

The main approach is to use Directed Random Search. The whole work is
compuational oriented, It is cell state space based, it is also capable
of design
robust controller for systems order as high as 4 dimensional.
