    Hello NAFIPS members,

There are three important announcements in this email that will
be of interest to all you. The topics are

    1) FLINT (The Special Interest Group on Fuzzy Logic and the
Internet) will have its annual workshop in conjuction with
    NAFIPS 2002.

    2) Electronic access to the International Journal of
    Approximate Reasoning for 2002.

    3) Reduced subscription rates for NAFIPS members.

    The details are below.

                 NAFIPS-FLINT 2002
    ******************************************************************

As you all know, NAFIPS 2002 will take place in New Orleans on
July 27-July 29 on the Campus of Tulane University. There is now
more reason than ever to consider joining us in New Orleans.

The Special Interest Group on Fuzzy Logic and the Internet (FLINT)
will hold their annual workshop as part NAFIPS 2002. Last August,
FLINT's initial workshop drew fuzzy researchers and practioners
from around the world to investigate and exchange ideas on
applications of fuzzy sets and soft computing to the internet.
You may find out more about FLINT and its research areas at
    http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~nikraves/bisc/sig/internet/

The FLINT workshop and NAFIPS 2002 were combined to allow people
to conveniently attend both (and save money). The registration
for NAFIPS 2002 covers all sessions and events. In addition, the
registration has been set at $245 and inexpensive lodging is available
on Tulane's campus to make this a real bargain.

To provide time for people interested in the new combined
conference to submit abstracts, the dates for submission to
NAFIPS-FLINT 2002 have been changed to

            NAFIPS-FLINT 2002

          Abstracts Due: March 1 (Friday)
          Notification of acceptance: March 22
          Papers Due: May 3

Because of the new deadlines, we strongly encourage electronic
submissions. Submission information can be found by

    * going to the NAFIPS website www.nafips.org
    * clicking on the NAFIPS 2002 button
    * clicking on "Abstract Submission Form"

I hope to see many of you in New Orleans.
