If the day is warm then sunlight is bright
If the day is cold then sunlight is bright

The two rules above are not [Fuzzy] contradictory !

It may be that the days temperature has little impact on the brightness of a
day OR It may be that a particular days temperature may be considered both
warm and cold (each to some extent).

The two rules, though they might appear linguistically at odds, serve a
greater Fuzzy purpose in that together they are actually [Fuzzy] mathematics
formula that help shape an answer space.

To dispense with one, because it doesn't sound right lessens the
    effectiveness of the remaining rule.

The linguistic contradiction is also more true to life than you might have
imagined. An overt analytical mind (the type that makes good mathematician
material) doesn't like to reconcile contradiction rather tends to prefer to
eradicate, discourage and or discredit it.

The fact is intelligence is always reconciling (making the best of )
    contradictory rules.

Fuzzy is an ideal backdrop for an intelligence system.
