Berkeley Initiative in Soft Computing (BISC)
    *********************************************************************

To the fuzzy set and soft computing community:

As the year 2001 begins, if you are not currently a member of NAFIPS
I hope that you will consider joining our organization. NAFIPS is the
oldest professional organization in the western hemisphere dedicated
to research and applications in Fuzzy Set theory and soft computing.

Membership in NAFIPS includes electronic access to the The International
Journal of Approximate Reasoning. As a NAFIPS member you are also entitled
to purchase a hard copy of the journal at a reduced rate of $76 per year.

As an institutional member of the International Fuzzy System Association
(IFSA), NAFIPS can offer personal subscriptions to several outstanding
journals on fuzzy sets, knowledge based systems, and soft computing at
    reduced rates.

    Member Subscription Rates for 2001:

International Journal of Approximate Reasoning $76
      Fuzzy Sets and Systems $217
International Journal of Uncertainty, Fuzziness, and Knowledge
        Based Systems $72
International Journal of Advanced Computational Intelligence $110

NAFIPS annually sponsors a conference on fuzzy sets and soft computing.
    The upcoming conferences are

NAFIPS 2001- This year NAFIPS is cosponsoring its annual conference with
IFSA and the IEEE. The conference will held in Vancouver on July 25-28.
Information about the conference is available at
<http://morden.csee.usf.edu/ifsanafips2001.html>. Hope to see you there.

NAFIPS 2002--The 2002 conference will be held in New Orleans at Tulane
University, just a short distance from the French quarter. The dates of
the conference are June 28-29, 2002. It's time to mark your calendar.

The annual dues are only $19 and the registration information can
be obtained on the NAFIPS website <http://www.nafips.org/>.
Registration at a NAFIPS conference includes a membership for the
subsequent year, so those of you who were at the Atlanta last year
    are already members for 2001.

Thank you for your interest in Fuzzy Set Theory and I hope that
you will join us in 2001.

    Sincerely,

    Tom Sudkamp
